以“英语课程标准”为宗旨,适应新课程改革的需要,面向全体学生,提

高学生的人文素养,增强实践能力和创新精神。正确把握英语学科特点,积极倡 导合作探究的学习方式。 培养学生积极地情感态度和正确的人生价值观,提高学 生综合素质为学生全面发展和终身发展奠定基础。

二、教学总目标
能听懂教师对有关熟悉话题的陈述并能参与讨论。能读供七至八年级学生 阅读的简单读物和报纸杂志,克服生词障碍,理解大意。能根据阅读目的运用适 当的阅读策略。能与他人合作,解决问题并报告结果,共同完成学习任务。能在 学习中互相帮助,克服困难。能合理计划和安排学习任务,积极探索适合自己的 学习方法。

三.教材分析
《牛津英语》八年级(下册),全书共有六个单元,本教材各单元话题灵 活,贴近生活实际。本册书将学习的一些语法知识点有:现在完成时、被动语态. 间接引语、时间状语从句、条件状语从句、反意疑问句等。同时每个单元后都提 供了一篇阅读文章,用以训练学生的阅读能力,扩大学生的阅读量。

五、教学设想
1. 认真专研教材和课标,精心备课,认真上好每一堂课。确定每堂课的基础内 容,预备内容和拓展内容,满足不同层次学生的不同需求。力争让每个学生 都有所发展,有所提高.不轻易让一个能够跟得上进度的学生掉队. 2. 充分利用现有的现代化教学设备,加强直观教学,提高课堂效率。 3. 多与学生沟通, 了解学生学习状况和需求,及时改进教学中存在的问题和不 足。争取帮助学生进步,让自己进步. 4. 积极开展丰富多彩的英语活动,提高学生兴趣。如英语演讲比赛、单词听写 比赛、朗读比赛、英语手抄报比赛、学唱英文歌曲,课前五分钟活动等。 5. 注重个别辅导,在面向全体学生的基础上,培优补差。 6. 不断学习,加强自身素质和业务能力的提高。 7. 重视每个早读课都让学生读,为初三的口语考试奠定基础.

Read Have students read the dialogue after the tape. They should try to imitate the intonation and the pronunciation. Ask them to practise reading by themselves. Step4. Presentation 1. How do you come to school today? 2. How did you go to school at the age of 10. Then ask students to work with their partners. Try to think out different kinds of transport in their daily lives. (bus, car, train, bike, plane and so on.) Step5. Discussion Ask students to discuss with their partner. Task: Do you know other kinds of transport? Ask them first discuss then list down other kinds of transport they know. They should finish discussing in 2 minutes. Step6.Presentation 1. Introduce the new words to the students. Make them understand the Chinese meanings of these words and ask them to read after me for twice. Give them 1 minute to practice reading them. Invite several students to read the new words. 2. T: We know all these transport is in Hong Kong. But do you know when Hong Kong has these transport. For example: When did Hong Kong have light rail? (in 1988) Ask students to work with their partners to ask this question in turns. Have them finish Part A. Check the answers together. 3. Ask students to learn all the time by heart. Then finish Part B. Make students understand the timeline. Step7. Quiz Read the following sentences and ask students to guess which mode of transport am I describing. 1. It has traveled across Victoria Harbour, between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon since 1898. (ferry) 2. It‘s an easy way to get to the top of the peak. (peak tram) 3. There are many of them. Teaching procedure: Step1. Daily report Ask one student to give us the daily report. Step2. Presentation Review the use of the simple past tense. Ask students for some sample sentences. e.g. I had an English lesson yesterday. My mother cooked for us last week. Tell students that the simple past tense is used when we talk about events that happened at a definite time in the past and are now finished or no longer true. Explain that when we want to talk about the present and the past, e.g., to talk about actions or situations that started in the past and are continuing into the present or still have some connections with the present, we use the present perfect tense. Write two sentences on the board, one using the simple past tense and one using the present perfect tense, e.g., She lived in Nanjing in 1995. She has lived in Nanjing since 1995. Ask ―Does she live in Nanjing now?‖ For the first sentence, the answer is ?No.‖ For the second sentence, the answer is ―Yes.‖ Tell students about a few adverbs which can help them recognize the use of the present perfect tense. Tell them about the use of ?for‘ and ?since‘ in the sample sentences. Explain to students that the present perfect tense can also be used in sentences without the adverbs which determine its definite use. In those cases, students need to understand the function of the action affecting the present, e.g. in the sentence ?She has arrived.‘, we know that she has arrived some time before now, but we do not know when. The past tense is used if we have a fixed time, e.g. ?She arrived yesterday/ this morning.‘ Work through a few more example sentences illustrating the difference between the past tense and the present perfect tense, e.g., I saw a film last night. (We know it was at a specific time in the past.) I have seen many films. (We know that it was in the past, but the time is not specified.) Explain the sentences in the table at the bottom of page9 and work through a few example sentences. Explain that we form the present perfect tense by adding ?have‘/ ?has‘ in front of the past participle. The past participle is the same for all persons. e.g. They have studied English for four years. She has been here since 11 a.m. I have not eaten lunch yet. Ask students to identify the past participle in each of the examples (?studied‘, ?been‘, ?eaten‘) Explain that most past participle are formed by adding ?ed‘ to the infinitive, but there are some irregular forms that students have to learn by heart. Tell students to refer to the ?Irregular verbs‘ on page 112 of their books. Step3 Exercise Divide the class into pairs. Ask students to go through the table on page10 and ask more able students to make one sentence with each past participle in the table. Go over the past participles as a class. Ask a few more able students to read out the sentences

they wrote using the past participles. Ask students to complete the sentences in Part A1 on their own. Remind students that they will need to use the correct form of the verb ? have‘, followed by the past participle. Explain that if the sentence is negative, the word ? not‘ goes between the auxiliary (?have‘/ ?has‘) and the past participle. Ask six students to read out one sentence each. Ask students to turn to page 46. Ask students to read the list of definitions on the left and the list of words on the right. Divide the class into pairs. Ask students to work together to match the definitions with the words by writing the correct numbers in the boxes. Check answers as a class. Ask one student to read out a definition and another student to say the word that is being defined. Tell students that in Part A2, Simon and Annie are talking about Simon‘s new computer. Ask them to read the conversation through first to get a general idea of the meaning before they begin filling in the blanks.

Ask students to do Part A2 on their own using words from Part A1 to complete the conversation. Divide the class into pairs and ask students to compare answers. Ask a few pairs to read out the completed conversation to the class.

Step5. Game
Ask students to draw a grid of nine squares in their books. They then write the words from Part A1 in the squares in any order. Read out words from the list randomly but keep a record of the ones you called out. Students cross out the words when they hear them. The game continues until a student has crossed out three words in a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Check by getting him/her to say which words he/she has crossed out. Continue the game, having the winner read out the words for the next game.

Step6. Discussion
Computers are very useful at present. Do you know the different uses of computers. Ask students to discuss in groups of 4 students. ―What do you use your computer for ?‖ or ― Why do you use your computer?‖ or ― What do you use your computer to do?‖ e.g. 1. draw and design 2. play games 3. search for information 4. send and receive e-mails 5. word processing 6. write computer programs ……. (I use my computer to search for information. I use my computer for searching for information.) ……

Step7. Speak up
Ask students to read the dialogue between Daniel and Simon. Then ask them to use the phrases we have learnt just now to make a new dialogue. Ask them to practise the dialogue within 2 minutes and ask them to show us their dialogues.

Step8. Listening
T: We know computer well. But there are two dogs they don‘t know computers. Do you know who they are. Ss: They are Eddie and Hobo. T: Let‘s listen to their dialogue. After listening to it, please answer the following questions. Questions: 1. What does Eddie think is the mouse like? 2. What does Eddie think can the mouse do? Play the tape for students and then ask them to answer the questions.

Step 9. Read and act

Explain the context of this section. Make a list on the board of computer programs students know well and ask them whether they like these programs and what they like about them. Do it as a class survey. Ask students to give information in response to open ?Wh- ‘questions, e.g., What CD-ROM programs do you have at home? How often do you use them? Who else in your family uses them? Why do you like them? When do you use them? Ask students to discuss in groups of four students. Bring the class discussion to educational programs. Sort the list of programs elicited from students into different types, e.g., games, sports, treasure hunts, detective games, educational, etc. Write a title above each type of programs elicited. Talk about traveling around the world while sitting at home or in the classroom. Then ask students to read the description in Part A1. Tell students that they are going to find out about an educational program which teaches English through traveling around in Australia and New Zealand. Ask then what they expect to find out. Elicit some general information from students and write them on the

board, e.g., Who is the program designed for? Who is the main character in the program? What is it about? How do you progress through the program?

Step3. Listening
Play the recording for Part A1. Tell students to listen carefully and fill in as many blanks as they can. Play the recording again and tell students to check their answers and listen for any answers they may have missed. Ask six students to read out one sentence each. Write the answers on the board to ensure that all students have the correct information.

Step4. Presentation
Explain the context of Part A2. The pictures on the left are icons, and the words on the right describe the functions of the icons. Tell students that there are two parts to this exercise. First, they have to write the names of the icons. Then they have to match each icon with its function. Ask students to guess the function of each icon by drawing lines in pencil.

Step5. Listening
Play the recording for Part A2. Ask students to listen for the names of the icons. Play the recording again, then check that all students have the correct names for the icons. And ask students to match the icons with their functions. Check answers as a class. Ask four students to each read out the name of an icon and its function.

Step5. Exercise
Part A3 is a summary of the information in Parts A1 and A2 on page 50. Students are bringing together information from the previous two sections to write an e-mail about the ?Daily English‘ CD-ROM program. Ask students to read the e-mail for general understanding before they begin filling in the blanks. Ask students to complete the e-mail using the information on page50. Have students work out the missing words on their own first, then compare their answers with a partner. Ask a more able student to read out the completed e-mail.

Step6. Speak up
Explain the context. Sandy is asking Millie to show her how to use a computer program. Divide the class into pairs. Tell students to read the conversation aloud, then change roles and read the conversation again. Tell students to look at the information about ?Daily English‘ on page 50 again. Ask them to think of some questions they might like to ask about it. Tell students to prepare and practise their own conversations involving asking for help in using the ?Daily English‘ CD-ROM. Tell them to use Sandy and Millie‘s conversation as a model. Ask a few pairs to present their conversations to the class. Encourage other students to ask more questions about the program.
